Being unemployed is good for one thing: geekin' out! I have played around with this layout for awhile and finally got it to look ALMOST exactly like I want it to. Save a few over-sized titles, I think it looks pretty good. I especially like the links!
WELCOME! Thank you so much for checking out my blog. As you may already know, I am raising money to go teach english in a small urban school in Costa Rica. I made the decision to teach abroad because I wanted to take all the schooling I had been blessed with and share it with others. In May I graduate with my Masters in Education from Whittier College. This is a perfect time for me to get out and spread my wings. Now I know that the economy is slipping and budgets are tight. I wish I could support my trip all by myself, being a newly self-sufficient young adult, to proud to let her parents help her with anything. But as a second year, non-credentialed (which means not yet certified) teacher I only make just enough to pay rent and eat. I know, however, that despite this I am still fortunate. I have access to things people in other countries don't even dream about. So, as hard as it is for me to ask for help, here I am.
Now, I have found it is easier to tell people exactly what you need rather than leaving it up to others to make the decisions. So I am going to be so bold as to say I would appreciate donations anywhere from $5 to $50. Now if you feel compelled to donate more, $100 maybe, I will squash my pride and let you do it :). It will be a long and tough road ahead. $3,000 is a lot of money. But with plane tickets, insurance, and volunteer program costs this is what I need. I will be saving up my own money, which I will post about regularly, along with other information important to this trip. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. And remember, tell a friend!
